Views from on top of the world in the French Alps

After a strenuous morning of hiking, we finally made it to one of the highest points of our week-long trek. I was the first in the group to get to the top and what a sensational view we had. The reward was worth all the sweat and effort. It felt great to be on top of the world!

Fourteen-year-old Jonty, the youngest of our group, taking a break on top of the Alps.

Stunning views were all around. It felt like being in a giant postcard. So insanely beautiful and surreal, it took my breath away.

Wow, look at all those peaks!

My favorite hiking partner, my dad and me.

This is one of my favorite shots. I love the dramatic contrast between the mountains and the clouds.

Gentle clouds rolling over the mountain tops.

This man is a park guard hired to watch the men climbing straight up the mountainside across. Another park guard was on the other side and they communicated with each other to make sure the climbers made it safely over the top.

What comes up, must come down. We had a long road ahead to our evenings lodging.
