The One and Only Magic Kingdom

There is no one place on earth more magical in the eyes of a child than Disney’s Magical Kingdom. Awash in a fantasy land of every princess, prince and famous Disney character and ride awaits a place that proudly earns the phrase “Where all your dreams come true”.

As an avid normally off the beaten path kind of traveler, Disney World is not exactly on the list. It is very crowded, very expensive and over the top. Yet, as we are passing through Orlando on our way South for a family cruise it was now or never.

I will be honest in admitting that I still remember my favorite rides from over 30 years ago when we drove all the way from Minnesota in our station wagon to Florida. So yes it must be true that in the eyes of a child Disney is pure, simple magic and one of a kind.

🙂 The kids loved it especially my little girl Sophia. Her eyes light up so brightly at it all. Was delightful to see!

My daughter just loved it. Lucky for us, we hit it just right before the crowds and had a fun time there. 🙂

  3. I agree, a magical place. My brother worked there for a semester – fun to see the “behind the scenes” part as well!

Must have been really cool to see the behind the scenes at Disney. They do an amazing job at running the place! We had a great time!

  4. I remember when I was there 3 years ago, at the age of 12, and even though I didn’t ride more than one thing beause of the long waiting lines and things being closed due to rain, it was truly magical. The fireworks of course made the top!

So true! My family will also be taking a break from our cultural travels for some Disney Magic in April. For us the magic is at Epcot, and mom can her fix of about a dozen countries in one evening!

  10. ailsapm – wheresmybackpack.com – Hi there! I’m Ailsa Prideaux-Mooney. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my ice cream stolen by a gull in Cornwall. And I’m just getting started. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, I’d love you to follow my travelogue - wheresmybackpack.com - and remember, anyone who tries to tell you it’s a small world hasn’t tried to see it all.

  11. restlessjo – Hi! I’m Jo! Johanna when I’m feeling posh, Jan to my Dad, and Joasiu to my Polish family. A bit of a mix-up, that’s me. The one constant, however, is my restless nature. I love to travel and to explore our world. It doesn’t have to be the big wide world. I can be ridiculously happy not too far from home, so long as I’m seeking new horizons. Of course I have a wish list, and it was to help me fulfil my dreams that I started to write travel guides for a venture called Simonseeks. I’d always kept a travel diary, and it was hugely satisfying to share my experiences and to make new friends who shared my passion for travel. Alas, Simonseeks hit a few troubles, but I still find myself writing about my travels. I’ve become addicted. I’d love to share them, and to make more friends. So, it has to be a blog- right? Or do I mean- write?

Nice to do something purely for the kids, Nicole. You do so much for others 🙂
And we’re all kids at heart aren’t we? I was fully aware of the hype and commercialism when I was there, but oh those parades! And as I look at your Magic Kingdom photos, I find myself singing “when you wish upon a star…” (that would make another Six word Saturday 🙂 )
