Today is a glorious picture perfect day in Minneapolis. A day that makes me feel incredibly happy to be alive, breathing in the fresh crisp fall air and marveling at the gorgeous display of Mother Nature’s brilliant fall beauty.
I took a run around my lovely urban Lake Harriet, reflecting on what is on my agenda for the week. I couldn’t stop taking pictures along the way. It was so heartwarmingly beautiful that all my worries and concerns drifted away. That is what nature is supposed to do. To refresh, revitalize and invigorate you. My dad has passed on his love for nature and being outside to me. In honor of his birthday, here is a collection of photos taken today on my run. October 7th always marks the peak of our fall colors in Minneapolis. I can’t think of a better birthday gift than the beauty of nature.
“Happiness is largely an attitude of mind, of viewing life from the right angle” – Dale Carnegie
“To be able to look back upon one’s life in satisfaction is to live twice”. – Kahil Gibran
“The years teach much which the days never knew”. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what’s wrong in your life, or you can focus on what’s right”. Â – Marianne Williamson
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”. – J.K. Rowling
“One’s destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things”. – Henry Miller
Happy Birthday Dad! May you continue to constantly inspire me to seize the day and go for it in life!Â
Very nice set of images to honor your father and nature.

such blue sky!
Yes indeed! My absolute favorite color!
Such vivid colours and contrasts, Nicole – I love taking a virtual run with you around your neighbourhood lake, but I think it’s at this time of year that it really grabs me and running turns to a saunter as my eyes demand time to devour all that priceless beauty. Happy birthday to your Dad.
Yes I sure do love fall. My favorite time of the year. Everything about it makes me feel so alive!
Happy birthday to your dad, Nicole. Wonderful photos of a beautiful place. Abraham Lincoln once said, “A man is about as happy as he makes up his mind to be.” 🙂
I love that quote! Lovely!!!!
What a beautiful set of autumnal photos to honor your dad! I love how water is featured in one way or another in almost every shot:)
Thank you! I love water and have always lived by it my entire life except for when I spent a semester studying in Paris. Other than that, I’m always near a lake. I love water so much. It calms me.
Lovely captures…as usual….love each and every picture you choose to post. Do convey my heartiest wishes to your dad and tell him that he has a wonderful daughter:)
Thank you! I told him that and he just laughed! 🙂
Beautiful photos and a beautiful day. Add my birthday wishes to your father as well!
Thanks! I sure love fall!!!!
Love it, Nicole. Lucky old Dad, having a daughter like you 🙂
Thanks Jo! 🙂 I’m lucky to have him! 🙂
one of the things i missed most from the united states was the leaves changing colors and the evident change between seasons – that doesn’t happen in australia! it’s finally getting chilly here in houston, and as soon as the leaves start to change color, i’ll take a bunch of photos and post them all!

Thanks for the comment Daniel! I love fall and ours is slowly fading. It was 77 today but this is it as normally we are in the 60s.
Given where you two have traveled together, there is no better way to honor your father’s birthday than through nature photos. 🙂
Oh thanks LuAnn! 🙂 I have many fond memories of fall growing up and spending a gorgeous October day outside with my dad here in MN.
I just want to jump in your photos and experience a beautiful fall day. It has always been my favorite season and I miss it tremendously. Thanks, Nicole for the beautiful reminders.
