A Glorious Fall Day in Minneapolis

Today is a glorious picture perfect day in Minneapolis. A day that makes me feel incredibly happy to be alive, breathing in the fresh crisp fall air and marveling at the gorgeous display of Mother Nature’s brilliant fall beauty.

I took a run around my lovely urban Lake Harriet, reflecting on what is on my agenda for the week. I couldn’t stop taking pictures along the way. It was so heartwarmingly beautiful that all my worries and concerns drifted away. That is what nature is supposed to do. To refresh, revitalize and invigorate you. My dad has passed on his love for nature and being outside to me. In honor of his birthday, here is a collection of photos taken today on my run. October 7th always marks the peak of our fall colors in Minneapolis. I can’t think of a better birthday gift than the beauty of nature.

“Happiness is largely an attitude of mind, of viewing life from the right angle” – Dale Carnegie

“To be able to look back upon one’s life in satisfaction is to live twice”. – Kahil Gibran

“The years teach much which the days never knew”. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what’s wrong in your life, or you can focus on what’s right”.  – Marianne Williamson

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”. – J.K. Rowling

“One’s destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things”. – Henry Miller

Happy Birthday Dad! May you continue to constantly inspire me to seize the day and go for it in life!

Such vivid colours and contrasts, Nicole – I love taking a virtual run with you around your neighbourhood lake, but I think it’s at this time of year that it really grabs me and running turns to a saunter as my eyes demand time to devour all that priceless beauty. Happy birthday to your Dad.

Thank you! I love water and have always lived by it my entire life except for when I spent a semester studying in Paris. Other than that, I’m always near a lake. I love water so much. It calms me.

  6. Lovely captures…as usual….love each and every picture you choose to post. Do convey my heartiest wishes to your dad and tell him that he has a wonderful daughter:)

  8. restlessjo – Hi! I’m Jo! Johanna when I’m feeling posh, Jan to my Dad, and Joasiu to my Polish family. A bit of a mix-up, that’s me. The one constant, however, is my restless nature. I love to travel and to explore our world. It doesn’t have to be the big wide world. I can be ridiculously happy not too far from home, so long as I’m seeking new horizons. Of course I have a wish list, and it was to help me fulfil my dreams that I started to write travel guides for a venture called Simonseeks. I’d always kept a travel diary, and it was hugely satisfying to share my experiences and to make new friends who shared my passion for travel. Alas, Simonseeks hit a few troubles, but I still find myself writing about my travels. I’ve become addicted. I’d love to share them, and to make more friends. So, it has to be a blog- right? Or do I mean- write?

  9. one of the things i missed most from the united states was the leaves changing colors and the evident change between seasons – that doesn’t happen in australia! it’s finally getting chilly here in houston, and as soon as the leaves start to change color, i’ll take a bunch of photos and post them all!

Thanks for the comment Daniel! I love fall and ours is slowly fading. It was 77 today but this is it as normally we are in the 60s.

  10. Given where you two have traveled together, there is no better way to honor your father’s birthday than through nature photos. 🙂
