A Photoblog: In Search of Color

“Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world. Constantly color your picture gray, and your picture will always be bleak. Try adding some bright colors to the picture by including humor, and your picture begins to lighten up”. – Allen Klein

As a colorless winter persists here in Minnesota, I dream daily of bright colors.  I crave vibrant colors to make my heart sing and give me energy. When it is gray and barren, I feel less inspired then when the sun is shining bright and the sky is brilliant blue. Thus, I try to add color into my daily life especially during the wintertime.

I wear my paisley-colored boots and dress in bright red, pink or green sweaters. I add a colorful pashmina or scarf for a splash of color and am reminded of the place far away where I bought it. I buy a bouquet of spring flowers and place it in the kitchen. Or I look at my photos of summer flowers, markets or vacations to give me that extra boost of color. It is amazing how simply adding color to my life seems to lift my spirits immensely.

This post was inspired by the Weekly Photo Challenge: Vibrant.

What are your tricks to adding more vibrant color to you life?

  1. Glorious colours Nicole. The street with the coloured walls took my breath away. Hope you are feeling better. Thanks for filling the day with colour today🙂

  2. Excellent collection. My tricks to adding more color include:
    -Working on a hobby
-Contemplating on something fond that happened during the day
    -Doing something nice for someone
-Faking it till I make it!

  4. I sort of don’t deliberately set out to colour up. At the moment have on a tshirt and shorts both navy blue with no designs or patterns. I might go through my wardrobe and do something about that. Maybe a coloured set of handherchiefs and coloured socks I think that might work

  5. Love that first shot especially, Nicole! I get little treats now and then when we can get away to the Algarve. It will be Carnival while I’m there. Wouldn’t that have been a good subject for Vibrant? 🙂

    • Carnival will be wonderful! I will have to see a post on that! I was in Haiti last year for Carnival and it was the first one I’ve ever seen. So amazing! And yes Jo it would have been a great subject for vibrant! Have a wonderful trip!🙂
