Mindful Living: Creating more creativity and inspiration in my daily life

“Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We only have this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand, and melting like a snowflake”. – Francis Bacon Sr.

I have always been a highly imaginative and energetic person who like most people want to live each day of my life to the fullest possible. But let’s face it. Life can get incredibly busy and stressful with just living your day to day life. There is always a million things to do or that should be done, a lot happening in the world around us, and a lot of things to keep us away from truly finding inner peace and joy.

As a genuine Type A person, I have tried hard over the years to learn to let things go and not worry too much about every little detail. It is exceedingly hard to change one’s personality yet with the right tools I believe it is possible. I’ve tried to slow down a bit each day and stop to smell the roses. To think and reflect on my life, and what I want to accomplish over the years.

Finding yoga, literature, and poetry have been some tools that have helped remind me of the importance of mindful living and paying attention to details. Noticing the world around me. The hue of the sky, the brightness of the sun, the daily changing colors of the leaves. Listening to my inner body both physically, mentally and spiritually and more important,  paying attention to what it needs.

“With mindfulness, you can establish yourself in the present in order to touch the wonders of life that are available in that moment”. – Nhat Hanh

And finally making changes to the things about myself or my life that I do not like or want and chasing the things that I want to achieve. It isn’t easy but the more I stop and listen, and pay attention, the happier and more at peace I become. I first learned about the practice of mindfulness from yoga, and realized how much it changed my life both mentally and physically (I am a long term sufferer of chronic neck pain). Taking the time each day to step back, relax, to notice and to think. It is an amazing how empowered I feel by taking the time to be mindful.

The Path taken

So you may ask….where on earth am I going with the post? This isn’t the usual post you’d find on thirdeyemom and that is the point. I’m revamping a small, existing blog of mine called the thirdeyeworld as an outlet for my need to express inspiration, creativity and gratitude towards the world around me. I began the thirdeyeworld a year after starting this blog as a way to showcase one or two photographs that inspired me from my travels. I called it “postcards” from around the world. Now I’d like to take that concept a step further and add my thoughts, musings, reflections on the world through photography, poetry and inspiring quotes. I have over 15,000 photos uploaded on my blog thirdeyemom that are just waiting to be brought to life again in a different way.

I’m not sure where I’m heading with this all but why not take a chance and dive on in? Life is all about taking risks and trying out new things in order to grow and become a better person. So there is no time like the present.

Please feel free to stop by and check it out. I know that time is limited especially when reading blogs. Hopefully you will find value and inspiration in subscribing to the thirdeyeworld and taking a few moments out of each day to be inspired and reflect. It may take me awhile to go back and edit the existing posts on the blog to reflect the changes I want to see. However, here is brief example of what you will now find. My first post since the change.

A Fall Day

There is beauty in the air
As the fading sun smiles upon my face
For it is a fall day
And the world is a magical place

The leaves flutter and fall
Gently down from the sky
While the birds sing their last songs
Before saying goodbye

Is it the deep hues of orange and red
That soften my heart
Or the brilliant blue sky
That surrenders me to start

Dreaming of all that the future holds
As each special day slowly unfolds.
For seasons remind us that life continues to change
And it is up to us to seize each and every day.

  2. I am delighted to see you leveraging this second blog as an outlet for your creativity. I too struggle with Type A syndrome and still find that I need to learn how to relax. Love all the images in this post by the way, but that first one is truly breathaking.
