“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love”. – Marcus Aurelius
I am not an early bird. As much as I’d love to be able to wake at the rising sun, I just can’t. My natural clock seems to prefer the 7 am rising time. When I do have to get up early for a flight or something else, I am a little bit grumpy. In fact, I actually really detest those super early flights because I do not sleep a wink the night before tossing and turning worrying about how early I have to get up and how tired I will be. Put frank, I hate getting up before dawn.
The rare occasions (that is after I was out of the baby/toddler phase of life and had children who would actually sleep past 6 am) that I’ve risen early for an outdoor pursuit, it has been definitely worth it. The golden hour as the sun begins to rise above the horizon is breathtakingly serene. It is a peaceful time of day that if I had more willingness to get up, I would surely consider doing morning yoga to the rising sun or grabbing my camera to take some shots.
Maybe if I could get myself out of bed, I’d get more pictures like these below. The rare occasions when I’ve had to just do it. Or maybe I’m only dreaming.
“Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them”. – William Arthur Ward
“An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day”. – Henry David Thoreau
