The Ice Sculptures

Every winter a mysterious woman spends days creating these magical sculptures of ice that she places alongside Minnehaha Creek near Lake Harriett. At night she lights them up with candles creating a gorgeous array of light to delight the eyes and warm our winter souls.

I’m fortunate to have seen them before a winter heat wave that melted the ice sculptures instantly. They only lasted a day or two. Here are some of my favorites.

  1. Wow! These are so amazing. What a lot of work to create all these. What a pity they have to melt away so soon, but I guess you’re so happy to have warmer weather now. 🙂

    • Yes pretty crazy and she makes the ice sculptures every year! This year we had at least 50. Normally it doesn’t melt so quickly but we had some warmer than normal weather.
