Summer Lovin’

“Adventure is worthwhile in itself”. – Amelia Earhart

Summer is my favorite season in Minnesota. The weather is usually perfect with brilliant blue skies, bright sunshine, low humidity and sunsets well past ten at its peak. This summer has not been as red hot as usual. We have experienced a lot of rain and the temperatures have been a bit cooler. But that hasn’t stopped me or my family from spending as much time as humanly possible outdoors. Summer is payback for a brutally long, cold winter. Summer is playtime.

For me, summer is freedom just to simply be. To be outside, to be free, to take in the warm summer skies and dive into the waters. To bike, to run, to swim, to hike, to play and enjoy spending time with my children who are growing up way too fast.

We love taking bike rides in the summer along some of the many fabulous trails throughout the city.

I always get sad when summer ends. It goes way too fast in Minnesota. In less than a month the kids will be back at school again and I’ll be dreaming of the freedom of those hot summer days.

    • Thanks for stopping by! I loved your entry too! Thanks for sharing it. TIme with children sure goes fast. That is what I’m realizing. 🙂

  1. Amazing sunsets and lots of fun on the side of the lake. I love your pictures. They give one a real sense of a beautiful day, perfectly spent. And I love the quotes you chose, especially the one about being able to spend a useless afternoon in a useless manner 🙂 Bril!

  2. it took three tries, but the images loaded, and i just had a lovely visit to the lakefront with you and your beautiful family!

that raspberry-colored flower is so pretty, and i do not know what it is.. do you know its name? it’s beautiful!

    • Yeah….so glad you enjoyed! I tend to use way too many pictures but that is just me! I think that flower is a peony but not exactly sure. I love flowers especially in the spring.

What a wonderful photo journey. The first one of you all jumping into the water is just a beautiful capture and then all the fun of the day ending with an utterly beautiful sunset. Lovely set of photographs.

    • Thank you! That first photo was taken a few years ago so perhaps cheating but it epitomizes summer here in MN. Jumping in one of our many lakes and just enjoying that it is finally warm, sunny and beautiful. Minnesota has a long, cold winter!

    • Wow, then you should live here! Do you live in a cold climate too? I do like winter as I ski, snow shoe and love the sunny snowy days but the cold gets hard as I love being outside just reading a book or having dinner. 🙂

      • I live in the Balkans, but we do not have a specific climate, summer are rainy, winters are very mild.My lifelong dream is to move to USA.In winter, I love to walk, sit by the fire, read, drink tea.I can’t stand the heat, what is here right now. 🙂

    • Thanks Amy! That first one was taken a few years back. I’ve got to get better with my family picture taking. I do love that shot though of my hubbie with the kids. 🙂

    • Thanks! I hope you and your family are enjoying your summer as well. Knowing you, I am sure you are! You always seem so full of life! 🙂

    • Thanks! 🙂 Only a few weeks left now as the kids start school sadly the last week of August. Wish it was after Labor Day! Seems like a bad time to start.
