The Bittersweet end of another school year

Today is my children’s last day of school, a bittersweet day, as another year has rapidly gone by. It feels like yesterday when I walked them into their first day of school last fall and left with tears in my eyes. It was my daughter’s first full day of school and my first time in nine years without children around me all day. Now another year has flown by and my daughter Sophia is moving to second grade and my son Max to fourth. Before I know it they will be off to college!

There is something about having children that makes your life seem to speed by even faster. Every day is busy and filled with craziness. The ups and downs of childhood and the joys of seeing the world through my children’s eyes. Being a mom is the greatest gift I could possibly have and as much as life gets hectic, difficult, exhausting and hard, my children give me so much unbelievable joy and love that I will forever be grateful.

I’m amazed by how much they have grown and learned over the past year. Like both their mom and dad, they love to read and Sophia has taken a keen interest in writing stories.

Maybe she will be a writer like me someday?

So as I await the last few hours of school and a summer filled with fun memories, time together and joy. It has been a wonderful school year and I am so honored to be their mom. It is the best job I’ve ever had and ever will!

Oh…..make me teary-eyed.

Oh…..make me teary-eyed.

Stay tuned….I am off to Ethiopia in one week now! I am one busy mama but look so forward to the trip and what I will learn and share with you!

    • So glad you liked the post Lisa. I know my blog doesn’t have a lot of personal stuff in it but I had to share this one as the kids are such a big part of my life! I love our city. Despite the long winter, Minneapolis is a wonderful place with so many parks, bike trails and nature, plus culture too.

    • Oh,….I’m not always so wonderful! They know how to push every single button I never knew existed but I do love them so incredibly much. Such a huge part of my life and who I’ve become! 🙂
