jux·ta·po·si·tion
noun
- the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect.”the juxtaposition of these two images”
This week’s photo challenge is one of my absolute favorites: Juxtaposition. As a traveler, we often see juxtaposition wherever we look. Contrasting and even sometimes confusing images appear that make us open our minds and think. In fact, juxtaposition is a great way of teaching us about the world around us and how other cultures are similar and different than our own.
Following is a compilation of some of my most favorite intriguing images I’ve captured that have lead me to question and ponder on the meaning.
India
Guatemala
Honduras
Nepal
China

These are all awesome, but I like the first one the best.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed! 🙂
Excellent response to the challenge, Nicole. Hadn’t seen that this week’s topic was juxtaposition. What always amazes me is that you can churn these out on the same day the topic is announced. Way cool!

I just love the photo challenges and it is pretty easy to throw something together quickly. 🙂
Absolutely Incredible! You’ve done so well here!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Nice selection for the challenge.
Thanks! 🙂
Your photos show great character and tell a story. Very nice!
Haha! The shoe left behind. No wonder it was left behind. Climbing a volcano with a wedge shoe? I love this collection. I wish I had my photo of our trip to the top of the Alps. When we arrived at the peak, there was a sign with a picture of a high heeled shoe and it was crossed out. Who in the world would climb the Alps with 8 inch heels? lol
Great photos.
Thanks! 🙂
I like the erupting volcano, the cloud forms an angel (-^_^-)
Wow, the woman begging at the church really spoke to me about the state of society and church right now. Thank you for the post!
Thanks. Glad you liked the post and saw the meaning behind the photos. 🙂
What a great composition of photos, Nicole. I threw in my two cents as well, but posted only one photo with a small text on my new blog.
Thanks! 🙂 I will check yours out too! 🙂

I enjoyed yours too! What a great photo of the lady and it is ironic next to the young women on the ice cream freezer. I would love to go to Tibet! 🙂
Great selection, Nicole. Do you think that church has a hotline to heaven? The cows on the beach are really surreal. 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
Amazing pics 🙂
Thank you!
Great, thought-provoking selections! The little girl in her red dress is my favorite, I think!
Thank you! I love that photo too of the girl in the red dress. I was in the middle of the slums and here she was in that beautiful dress.
I think you win the Juxtaposition Award! These are all truly wonderful ! Some you have shown before but they are strong and provocative! Just wow! ♛♛♛♛♛
Thanks! So glad you enjoyed the post. I thought the photos spoke much louder than words. 🙂
You are so very talented ! Bravo!
