Beginnings

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning”.  – T.S. Eliot

Although the new year has started, my surroundings have entered the deep freeze of winter. Winter in Minnesota is a test of endurance and strength. It is long, cold and often difficult. Yet the beginning of rebirth and renewal in the spring, reminds us to keep faith in ourselves and our spirits. For the beauty of spring and for what is to follow, offers a new beginning to reinvent ourselves.

I long for the brilliant colors of spring but will suffice with the crisp blue skies and white snows of winter. For a new year has begun. A new beginning. A new chapter in this journey called life. And with this new beginning, each page slowly becomes written as we journey through yet another new year of life on this amazing planet.

It also takes courage to be ready to close the door behind and open the one in front of you.

  4. Happy New Year, Nicole! I spent four frigid days in Minneapolis in November, so I have a lot of respect for people who make it through the whole winter — and I love what you wrote about how it makes you appreciate the spring and rebirth so keenly. Lovely images, too!

  6. Happy New Year! I too can’t wait for Spring but am enjoying the winter snow and the time to reflect. I’ll be planning this year’s garden over the next weeks in anticipation of the new beginnings.

  8. Please stay safe up there Nicole. I hear you are in for some frigid weather. Even down in the panhandle of Florida the sun has been scarce and the temps have been in the 40’s. Take care! 🙂
