Life is a whirlwind right now. I just got back from France a week ago and now am soon heading to India on my first-ever trip as a social good blogger! I will be traveling to learn more about the amazing non-profits we work with as a member of the Global Team of 200. I am so incredibly excited I can hardly stand it.
Besides my upcoming travels, I’m also participating in a number of exciting events in honor of Mother’s Day and my advocacy. Here are just a few…
Monday, May 6th: I will be a panelist alongside founder of Global Team of 200/Mom Bloggers for Social Good Jennifer James and two other team members on a Goggle+ hangout interviewing UNICEF USA’s CEO Caryl Stern. We will be talking live about maternal health as well as women and girls. It is bound to be a thrilling conversation and anyone can join in to listen. Here is the information below.
We hope you’ll join us. Find out more on the G+ link.
From the Discussion Description:
Join +UNICEF USA and +Mom Bloggers for Social Good on May 6 from 2 – 3 p.m. EDT for an in-depth discussion around issues affecting women and girls in developing countries. As experts on the topic and as mothers themselves, participants will examine issues like gender equality in the context of today’s media headlines. We’ll also look at how +UNICEF is addressing these issues around the world and why it’s important for the American public to stay informed.
Wednesday, May 8th: I will be sharing my the story of becoming a mother in honor of the release of Save the Children’s State of the World’s Mothers 2013 report. This will be an exciting day of around the clock advocacy working to connect all mothers and fathers across the globe in honor of saving the 1 million newborns who die within the first 24 hours of life. This post is going to be a tricky one to write and a tad emotional but I’m ready for the challenge!
Friday, May 10th: I will be participating in Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build here in Minneapolis! I have never donned a hard hat or operated power tools before but I’m ready for the challenge. To read more about Women Build, please check out this post I wrote last week.
It is bound to be a very busy yet inspiring week! No worries….I will be sure to mix in some more posts on my France trip as well to keep the blog interesting. Stay tuned…
