Guatemalan Green

This week’s travel theme from Ailsa of Where’s my Backpack happens to be the color green in honor of Spring and St. Patrick’s Day. I know I’m rather obsessed with Guatemala and have used my photos for many posts now, two of which have been Freshly Pressed (The Color of Guatemala and The Green of Guatemala). However, since Spring is so far off from a reality here in Minnesota I had to dig back through my archives and pull up photos from where I was a year ago in March.

Guatemala’s green continues to mesmerize me. It has the perfect climate and is known for its eternal Spring. The vast shades of green remind you that life is always there and growing. Just maybe I need to go back…

Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises. – Pedro Calderon de la Barca

    • Thanks Jo! It is snowing almost like a blizzard now…arghhh!!! Oh well….April is coming soon and then it will melt and make everything green again!

  1. These photos are beautiful! I was in Antigua last spring and these pictures really bring me back. It’s so beautiful there how they incorporate nature into their buildings, bringing the outdoors in. Can’t wait to get back there, thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Thanks for your stunning photos of Guatemala Nicole. Two years ago Terry and I had embarked on a 6-week tour of the archeological ruins of Mexico, then on to Belize and into Guatemala. When we were in Playa del Carmen we received a message that my dear friend Barbara, who was terminally ill, was in the hospital. We had to cancel our trip and hurry back to AZ. We hope to go back someday soon.

  3. Beautiful photos and beautiful memories, Nicole! I have thousands of photos from my life in Guatemala. Maybe we can meet back there again one day. 🙂

    • I would LOVE to Lucy! 🙂 Some of those pictures are the best I’ve ever taken. I think being with you really inspired me and helped me learn more about loving photography! 🙂

      • Wow!!! That’s a great compliment Nicole! It’s just a shame we didn’t have more time to slow down a bit! There’s definitely a difference in your photos from before. It’s obvious you’re taking more time and enjoying the experience and “seeing” photos! 🙂 Your new camera makes a huge difference in quality too. I’m loving your photos!

      • I hope you do Nicole! Just give me plenty of warning so we can plan something awesome! I’m staying with a Thai friend in Bangkok at the moment then I’ll head back to Phuket and figure out work.
