2012 in review: Thanks WordPress for these fun facts!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog. I found the report interesting and fun! I’m not one for stats however it is interesting to see what posts were viewed most. I am still a bit surprised that “Women in Morocco” and “How to Cook a Moroccan Tagine” are in the lead.

My blog has also been Freshly Pressed twice this year, with both posts from my beloved Guatemala. The Color of Guatemala and The Green of Guatemala were the two hot posts of the year.

The big change I made to my blog this year is to add all my social good and advocacy posts. I joined the Global Team of 200 in the fall where I expanded my passion for writing about the social needs of the developing world. It has been an extremely fulfilling and satisfying experience. I also joined the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge where I’ve been inspired to rework some of my favorite travel pictures from the road.

Best of all, I’ve met lots and lots of new friends and followers. Thank you all for reading my blog and cheering me on! I look so forward to the coming year and all it will bring!

As for the WP Stats….here it is!

If this is good or bad, I do not know but I find it somewhat interesting for a little blog like mine…

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 84,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

  1. Oh, it’s been a good year, hasn’t it? I, too, was freshly pressed twice, but you beat my page views by 4,000! Thanks for sharing the past twelve months with us. I’ve loved every minute of it, Nicole. Sorry to have been away from the blogosphere over the holidays. I know I’ve missed too many of your wonderful posts.
    Hugs,
    Kathy

    • Thanks Kathy! I’m really behind too! I always wonder about the stats as many are just random google searches so it is hard to get an accurate understanding of who is really reading. It has been great to get to know you more this year! Looking forward to 2013! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks….well…who truly knows about those silly figures as many are google searches but still, it is nice to have some dedicated blogger friends. Hope 2013 brings you joy and fun too! πŸ™‚

  2. …and your blog has also been nominated for a Liebster Blog Award…by me! πŸ™‚
Srsly, love reading through it and looking at your great photography. Maybe you’ve already been nominated an estimated 1000 times, who knows. But anyway, it really is one of the few blogs I am reading on a regular basis!
To accept the nomination, you can answer a few of the questions I posted on my blog, link the picture of the nomination, nominate some other blogs for the Award and ask your own questions to the nominees. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, just do nothing and let the Award dissolve into the world wide web.
    Cheers, Miya

    • Thank you so much Miya and congrats to you as well! I really appreciate it! Not sure if I’ll be able to do it or not as I’m leaving soon for my next adventure….but rest assured that I am honored! πŸ™‚ Happy New Year to you!!!

  3. Congratulations on the impressive stats Nicole! Four hundred odd posts is mighty impressive, I barely managed 176! Happy to be your top 5 πŸ™‚ Wish you continued success with the blog and all your endeavors in the new year.

    • Thanks so much for being in my top 5 comments! Yes I wrote a lot but look at the number of likes you get on your posts! Sensational Madhu! πŸ™‚ Looking forward to 2013! πŸ™‚
