The Lights of the Holidays

Despite Friday’s tragic events and my son’s bout with the stomach flu, we were able to sneak out of the house Saturday night for one of our favorite family holiday traditions: A viewing of the Minneapolis Holidazzle Parade.  We needed some cheering up and the beautiful, festive lights of the parade brought back the magic of the holiday season into our hearts.

In response to A Word in your Ear’s Photo Challenge: Lights, I thought I’d share some of my favorite magical lights of this year’s parade. The Holidazzle been a Minneapolis tradition since 1992, and runs from November 23-December 23rd down lovely Nicollet Avenue in downtown Minneapolis.

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder

Hope you enjoyed the festive, colorful lights! I’m winding down on posting as we leave Sunday for Virginia where we will spend Christmas with both sides of the family. I am not sure how much I’ll write next week. But knowing me, I’m sure I will post something. I’m back after the New Year and off to Honduras on a 5 am flight on January 5th for my volunteer trip! I should be able to sneak a few more posts in here and there but it may be relatively quiet next week. Stay tuned….

  1. Thanks for sharing in photos – have not been to the parade in years and would go about every year I lived near the city in my adult life when living there! I still miss living by Lake Calhoun. Have a Great One:)

  2. thanks for sharing the photos. you daughter has a perpetual sweet sweet smile all the time! she’s very special, isn’t she? dear son is special too – what a trooper to be sick and still get out and be cheerful!
enjoy the holidays with your loved ones!
