“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him”. – Buddha
Whenever I’m seeking solitude and peace, there is one place I go. Outside. I crave to be out in nature and if I am unable to go to my preferred place for finding peace, the mountains, than I turn to my lovely urban Lake Harriet just a few blocks from my doorstep.
When I reflect on peace one place in particular instills a calming peace throughout my soul: Nepal. Spending two weeks in the middle of the majestic Himalayas was perhaps the closest I’ve ever come to true peace. For when you let go of all your earthy inhibitions and solely rely on the feet that carry you on, there is nothing more inexplicably peaceful and freeing than hiking in the remote mountains of Nepal.
In honor of Jakesprinter’s Sunday Post “Peaceful” I thought I’d rework a select group of some of my favorite peaceful photos from Nepal, a place I visited two years ago today. I sincerely hope I can return someday to this magical kingdom which has brought so much beauty and peace to my being.
“Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue”. –Buddha
