The Alps in Black and White

Sunday morning and I’m back in Minnesota after eight wonderful days in the magnificent French Alps around La Tour de la Vanoise. All I can say is that it is quite a spectacular place. I’ve got over 800 photos to prove. The raw, untouched beauty of the French Alps cleansed my soul and revived me mentally and physically. My body still aches from the mountains and valleys we climbed with packs on our backs yet my body feels stronger and more human than ever before.

  1. Welcome back, dear! You were missed, but it sounds like you are returning refreshed, revived, and full of inspiration. This photos are marvelous in black and white. I can’t wait to see more!

    • Thanks Meghan! Now I just need to get over the jet lag. I managed to sleep 5 hours on plane and then 8 more that night. So not sure why I’m still tired but then again, I did hike a lot and the kids are here, full of energy! 🙂

  3. The black and white lends a different gravity to the shots – more ancient, maybe reminding us that the mountains will be there long after we leave? Welcome back.

Beautiful photos Nicole. The only problem is, I used to live in the Austrian Alps and your pictures make me homesick for the landscape! The quotes you use are so inspiring as well.

    • Thank you so much! Do you have any posts on your blog from the Austrian Alps? I was there many years ago when I was 13. Can hardly remember yet do remember how incredibly beautiful they were! I will have to check it out! 🙂 Let me know…N

    • Thanks! I like to use Snapseed as my photo processor of choice. I loved the photo in color but the black and white made it more dramatic. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂 Nicole
