Why I am advocating for newborn health

April 12, 2013 by thirdeyemom

Earlier this month, I posted on the upcoming Newborn Health Summit in South Africa and shared some tragic facts about how many children are not getting a chance at life. The post is called “Crisis and Hope in Newborn Health“. As part of the Global Team of 200, I have been working with the Gates Foundation this month to spread word and awareness about global newborn health in honor of The Global Newborn Health Conference being held on April 15th in South Africa. The […]

Weekly Photo Challenge: A day in the life of thirdeyemom

March 29, 2013 by thirdeyemom

Today’s Weekly Photo Challenge is rather fun. The goal is to try to capture a typical day in your life documenting it all on film. Since this month is iPhonography month, I decided to play by the rules and I snapped away shots of a typical weekday in the life of me, thirdeyemom. Today just so happens to be Good Friday which is a holiday. Thus it is not a regular day. My husband has the day off and the […]

Love and Heartbreak in a Honduran daycare

February 26, 2013 by thirdeyemom

Author’s note: This post is part of my series on my recent trip to Honduras. To read past posts on Honduras, click here. The main reason why I went to Honduras was to volunteer and give back. A month before leaving I found out my volunteer placement would be at a Honduran daycare center for poor single mothers to send their children to the day while they tried to earn a living. As a mother myself who adores children and an […]

Plus holiday time means lots and lots of eating!

“It’s the most crazy time of the year”!

November 29, 2012 by thirdeyemom

I know that the holiday season is often known as the “most wonderful time of the year” but for me it always means craziness! Busy, busy, busy. When I think of all that is going on over the next month and all I have to do, it feels like I’m looking up at the Eiffel Tower! A huge feat!

FRIDAY FEATURE: Birth of a Mother at 45

October 5, 2012 by thirdeyemom

This week’s Friday Feature is by Elizabeth Ataley of Documama.org. I had the pleasure of meeting lovely Elizabeth at this year’s BlogHer in NYC and she has been working with me as an editor for our World Voice column on World Mom’s Blog. Her inspiring blog can be found by clicking here.  Birth of a Mother at 45   What struck me most about turning 45, was that I was born to my own mother when she was 45.  I was […]

The barn

July 10, 2012 by thirdeyemom

The last few days have been a shock to reality. We arrived home from a wonderful, relaxing vacation and poof….it all dissipated like a match left to burn in a dry forest.  It is funny how life can be so predicting at times.
