We are the world. We are the children.

April 27, 2012 by thirdeyemom

Why I support Shot@Life…..the children.  By supporting and fundraising for Shot@Life, with the help of my friends we have raised over $1500 and counting which will be enough funds to vaccinate 72 children in developing countries for life.  I am not finished.  There is still much work to be done and more money to be raised.  I won’t give up.   I have miles to walk before I sleep. The number of children dying around the world due to lack […]

Going GREEN: Official Launch of Shot@Life movement

April 26, 2012 by thirdeyemom

Me and some of my good friends who helped me organize the event.  It’s been a huge week.  This week is the United Nations’s first ever Global Immunization Week and today in Atlanta, the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life program was officially launched.   Talk about a lot of milestones reached!  What a huge success for the world’s children who do not have access to the vaccines that keep them alive. Last night, I finally had my own Shot@Life party here at […]

Why I Support the Shot@Life Campaign

April 23, 2012 by thirdeyemom

Reblogged from Hike. Blog. Love.: I spent a combined 19 months watching my children grow up in orphanages, far away from my empty arms. 19 months is a long time to watch from afar… Little Man, around 7 months old in an orphanage in Vietnam The earliest picture we have of Big Brother, around 2.5 years old in his first orphanage in Hong Kong During those long months, I worried about whether they had enough to eat. Guest Post: Why I became a Shot@Life Champion

April 23, 2012 by thirdeyemom

This is a guest post by World Mom’s Blog founder/editor Jennifer Burden.  I had to pleasure of meeting Jennifer in person at the Shot@Life Summit in January and have loved working with her on Shot@Life as well as World Mom’s Blog. Photo above of Jen Burden, founder/editor of World Mom’s Blog, mother of two and advocate of Shot@Life.  Jennifer is the reason I became an advocate for Shot@Life.  She found my blog a year ago and asked me to write […]

April 22, 2012 by thirdeyemom

Yes, it is Earth Day today however there is another reason why I’m going green…… It’s finally here!  The UN Global Immunization Week and the launch of the UN Foundation’s program, Shot@Life.  After months of planning, hard work and enthusiasm, Shot@Life is finally going to be pushed front and forward into the hearts and minds of fellow Americans and the world through the grass-roots efforts of the 45 Shot@Life Champions like myself as well as the support and strength of […]

HUMAN RIGHTS: Celebrating International Women's Day in Guatemala

April 3, 2012 by thirdeyemom

Reblogged from World Moms Blog:  A few weeks ago, when I was in Guatemala learning Spanish and volunteering for a week, I had a special surprise. I witnessed my first ever El Dia de la Mujer (International Women’s Day), and it was an extraordinary experience. Before heading out to Guatemala, I honestly admit that I had never even heard of International Women’s Day before. It wasn’t until I opened my email on March 8th and saw the post written by […]

My friend Maria

March 15, 2012 by thirdeyemom

Reblogged from the thirdeyeworld: Gretings from Guatemala’s Highlands…wish you were here! Photo taken right outside my Spanish school in Xela, Guatemala.  I met Maria, a local Mayan woman, my second day in Xela.  She came to Casa Xelaju Spanish School and set up shop right outside the door, in the lovely alleyway between the school and two traditional homes.  Mayan women, the indigenous people of Guatemala, are known for their elaborate, colorful weaving.   Read more… 138 more words Hello […]

El dia de la mujer in Xela, Guatemala

March 9, 2012 by thirdeyemom

Today was an amazing day. One of those unexpected, joyful events happened here in Guatemala. An event that will have a lasting impact on my experience living here in Xela for a week to learn Spanish and understand Guatemala’s rich culture. Being away from home, I completely forgot that March 8th is a special day for women around the world. It is International Women’s Day. Thus, I was fortunate to be here on “El dia de la muter” and witness […]
