“If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.” – Maya Angelou Today I am grateful for so much in my life. My family, this wonderful life, my health and happiness. My heart is so full of love and thankfulness. As I spend this Thanksgiving holiday with my immediate family, the first time we have all been together in years without spouses or kids, I am grateful for the love that we share […]
Today is a glorious picture perfect day in Minneapolis. A day that makes me feel incredibly happy to be alive, breathing in the fresh crisp fall air and marveling at the gorgeous display of Mother Nature’s brilliant fall beauty. I took a run around my lovely urban Lake Harriet, reflecting on what is on my agenda for the week. I couldn’t stop taking pictures along the way. It was so heartwarmingly beautiful that all my worries and concerns drifted away. […]

The first weekend in June, I was one of 1,200 travel bloggers who packed my bags along with my tangled emotions, and headed to Toronto, Canada for the 3rd Annual TBEX (Travel Bloggers Exchange) conference. I had no idea what to expect and it was my first time ever attending a travel blogging conference. I went to BlogHer last summer along with 5,000 other blogging hopefuls and felt misplaced as a travel blogger among so many mommy bloggers. When I heard […]
This week’s travel theme by Where’s My Backpack is benches. The beauty of a bench is something sometimes easily missed. Yet for me, as I live in Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes and many beautiful parks, there are benches everywhere.

“Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are” – Bertolt Brecht This time last year, we were basking in the sunshine embracing the gorgeous beauty, energy and rejuvination that springtime brings to Minnesotans. On this day last year, spring was in full force with leaves bursting anew in a brilliant tapestry of verdant, virgin green. The telltale signs of spring – brightly colored tulips, deep purple pasque flowers and singing birds- were everywhere. […]

Please excuse the rant and my attempt at poetry but I had to get this out! I promise my next post will be a delight to the eye full of flowers! But sometimes you’ve got to take the good with the bad. I think that 16 hours of the worst stomach flu is up there with the bad. But then again, it sure makes you appreciate and thank God for your health. -thirdeyemom My body feels like it has been […]
Ailsa’s travel theme this week is the sensational concept of time. I am huge on reflection and when I thought of the subject of time, I brought myself back twenty years to where I was then and where I will be in a month’s time: Lovely Paris.
I should understand by now that the long-awaited arrival of Spring in Minnesota is a temperamental thing. Last year at this time, it was unseasonably warm and we were basking in the sun wearing shorts and t-shirts. This year, we are buried under snow and below zero wind chills. Minnesotans are getting frustrated and stir crazy. After five long months of winter, we just want to be outside listening to the birds sing and watching in awe as color and […]
I haven’t felt up to writing much today as I’m still battling a persistent, stubborn sinus infection that is making me tired, somewhat grumpy and not 100%. Yet in times of illness, I always remind myself that things could always be worse. Much worse. So it is important to be positive and put my plugged ears and stuffed up head into perspective! That said, I wanted to do a quick post of inspiration. On Sunday, Jakesprinter’s Travel Theme was Plains. I […]
“Keep all special thoughts and memories for lifetimes to come. Share these keepsakes with others to inspire hope and build from the past, which can bridge to the future”. – Mattie Stepanek This week’s travel theme by Ailsa of “Where’s my backpack” is another beautiful one: Bridges. Looking at bridges in a metaphoric way they are the means of crossing over to a new place. I look back at all the bridges I’ve experienced in my life: Graduating college, studying […]
