“As human beings, we are vulnerable to confusing the unprecedented with the improbable. In our everyday experience, if something has never happened before, we are generally safe in assuming it is not going to happen in the future, but the exceptions can kill you and climate change is one of those exceptions”. -Al Gore
This week’s Photo Challenge is delicate. Glaciers are not exactly what comes to mind when you think of delicate. The ice of a glacier is heavy, hard and always moving. However, what is delicate about glaciers is the delicate balance in nature due to global climate change. Many glaciers around the world are shrinking before our very own eyes and may not be around for our grandchildren. It is a tragedy that must stop. Global climate change is serious and unless we do something to help slow it down, glaciers like this one below in Argentina may be a thing of the past.
“Global warming is not a conqueror to kneel before – but a challenge to rise to. A challenge we must rise to”. - Joe Lieberman
“Glaciers are delicate and individual things, like humans. Instability is built into them.”- Will Harrison
All photos above taken at the world-famous Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina.

You have some fantastic photos here! I’m glad you gave share in this challenge! Great work!
Thank you!
These photos are totally awesome and gorgeous!
Thanks so much Cee!
Beautiful photos of a beautiful natural feature. Very poignant words too. I think everyone should watch films like ‘The Age of Stupid’ and read ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ as part of their education so that we don’t allow the galciers to disppear forever.
Yes I agree wholeheartedly. Thanks for your kind words.
Wonderful glacier photos. I really like the first one.
Thanks so much!

Wow, these are amazing photos, Nicole. You are so blessed to have seen such beauty first hand. I think Al Gore was a visionary, and would have made great President.
Yes I agree! Thanks…:)

Gorgeous photos. Let’s hope things are not as bad as the dire warnings we keep hearing. We all need to do our bit to help.
Yes indeed. I should stop reading all this stuff as it makes me worry so much. I just wish the environment talks in Doha went better.

beautiful glaciers. I have so much respect for natural wonders of the world. I will settle with the pictures rather than adding to the temperature of the environment that could erode the glacier. Thank you for the pictures.
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment!
You take such beautiful photographs Nicole.
Thank you LuAnn!
