I gave up waiting for WordPress to come out with this week’s Photo Challenge. I’m sure it is coming soon but I’m feeling rather impatient today. Thus I decided to come up with my very own theme: Colors.
I would be delighted if you joined in on the fun! Just link back to my post and comment with your post. We’ll have our own merry-go-round of colors!

Photos taken in Vanoise National Park, France. Notice how similar they look to my header picture taken in Nepal.
The colors of East meets West
I saw these colorful prayer flags soaring in the sky at one of the mountain refuges we stayed at in the Vanoise National Park in France. My heart melted as I closed my eyes and remembered my trip two years earlier to the Himalayas in Nepal. Prayer flags were everywhere blowing gently in the sky. The colors and the simple beauty of the prayer flags brought peace to my soul. They had the same effect on me when I saw them in the high Alps of France.

I’m in. Here’s my entry:

Sorry Nicole, I had to change to title on mine. The English in me couldn’t spell colour without the ‘u’

Love it and no worries! I should have put “Colors” and “Colours! I love the english spelling anyway. WE are so backwards sometimes over on this side of the pond!

Great idea to come up with your own. Love this, Nicole–especially how the colors in the flags become nearly transparent. We have prayer flags hung in out downstairs hallway. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, my friend.
Hugs,
Kathy
Thanks Kathy! I was waiting to do my Weekly Photo Challenge….as for some reason I’ve become addicted to it, and it never came. I wanted to post these photos of the flags for awhile now and on a whim, just decided to do it. I have some in my basement too! I love these photos of them here as they are so brilliant.

I checked out your ABQ posts. It looks like you had a good time. We haven’t been there in the Winter months, so far, but that is definitely on the menu after seeing your photos.
Thanks! Yes it was a short trip. just passing through after skiing in lovely Taos. But I really thought it was a cool city with a lot to offer.

Hi Thirdeyemom. I could not resist your weekly photo challenge with a theme like ” colour”.
( P.s I love your blog )
I am completely obsessed with the ” vibrant ” setting on my camera and use it all the time.
My reasoning is that is how I like to view life, being in techni-colour. Here is my entry
http://emmahicks76.wordpress.com/2012/09/30/my-weekly-photo-challenge-by-thirdeyemom-theme-colours/
I love the vibrant setting on mine also – almost TOO much!
I’ve got to try that setting to!
It works really well for bringing out the colors when it’s dark. I used that setting for my picture of the rabbit and frog – which was actually taken at night with a long exposure time http://mudutu.wordpress.com/2012/09/16/hello-world/
The vibrant setting doesn’t go so well with a flash though. I learnt this the hard way when people in my photos appeared looking like they had had a really bad spray tan
Ok, I’ll have to try. DO you use Photoshop or Lightroom? I like to push up the vibrant and saturation on my photos sometimes as well to make them pop out.
Oh just saw this comment, sorry. I am no pro. I actually use the setting on my camera which is called ” vibrant” ( I like that it is quite literal my camera haha )
I sometimes do a bit more ” boosting ” in Picasa using the ” boost ” option. I love Picasa for photo editing – very simple and fool proof. Perfect for me
LOL I don’t normally take picture of people so I haven’t seen that yet. Thanks for the heads up though!
Thank you for such a nice compliment! I love your entry! How beautiful and so colorful, it makes me smile!
I’m glad
