Watching the miracle of life at the Minnesota Zoo

For weeks, Sophia had been constantly asking me when we would be able to go back to the Minnesota Zoo and see the zoo babies.  Each Spring, around the middle of March an entire collection of baby calves, goats, chicks, bunnies and piglets are born and they are a joy to see.

The weather had finally improved.  It had literally been raining cats and dogs for weeks.  At the first sign of blue sky, Sophia and I set off for an afternoon at the zoo in hopes of seeing some brand new little babies.  Little did we know, we would be watching a live birth of a baby cow!

I must admit I’ve never seen a baby calf be born before.  It was quite a miracle indeed!  The best part of all was watching how the mother lovingly licked her newborn baby calf clean immediately following the birth.  It was utterly priceless.

Since I have so many pictures, I thought I’d try inserting a gallery this time.  They aren’t the best since I was dealing with a lot of crowds and little kids.  But they are still nice.  Here they are, the zoo babies….hope you enjoy!

(Note:  If you haven’t used this feature before it is pretty cool.  Just click on the thumbnail and an instant screen-wide photo show goes on!  I’m trying to learn how to arrange my photos better on the page but still can’t quite figure it out.  If anyone has any tips, please share with me!).

    • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! I love the name Sophia too. It is timeless, isn’t it? She really is a sweetheart. My son is missing out as he is in first grade but soon he’ll be out for the summer and we can have lots of fun!

  1. Aww those animal babies are so cute and so is yours :-)
The photo gallery is easy to arrange. You open the edit window and edit the number of columns you need and move/ drag the images to whichever position you desire. I believe the columns might not work right, if your images are not sized properly (or are too big)!

    • Thanks Madhu! I will have to spend some time reading and experimenting with WordPress. I really love how some people put their photos in a collage like format. Two smaller ones followed by a big one, etc. BUt I can’t figure out how to do that! I’ll keep trying! Trying to make my blog a little more interesting and professional.

Comments always welcome and appreciated!!!
